One More Reason…

Today I am meeting with my makeup lady to go over the plan for wedding day makeup. Thus, I have not a drop of makeup on my face and I’m wearing a plain white shirt (as not to reflect color when I put makeup on later) with my damp hair pulled back in a clip. As I’m sitting in the living room Mr. Wonderful walks up and says “You look pretty.”
A little stunned, I look up and reply with “What?”
He says again, “You look pretty.”
A little puzzled because I feel rather bland at the moment, I narrow my skeptical eyes and say, “Why do you say that?” (As if he’s the type to be sarcastic about something like that and poke fun at my no-makeup-wearing self.)
Mr. W. says “Because you are” with sincerity.
Instincts encouraged me to retort, “Are you nuts? I don’t have any makeup on, my hair isn’t done, blah, blah, blah, etc.” But I didn’t.
Instead, I bit my tongue and simply said “Thank you” as I, once again, realized how lucky I am to have him, how very much I love him, and how excited I am to marry him.
