I’ve never really dreamed of a frilly white wedding. Nope. I’ve dreamed of something crazy and fantastic, outlandish and unique. Mr. Wonderful on the other hand is pretty traditional so we’re making some compromises.
One idea is to have a fun dance with my Uncle since my Dad won’t be there. (Don’t ask.) The idea is that he won’t know that it’s a fun dance, so it will be a surprise. Let me back up a bit… my Uncle got married in the late 80s and I was about 10 years old. Neon colors were the trend. (I swear!) I wore a black & white dress with neon green & pink hearts and I wore matching (I thought) neon green ankle socks.
My family will never let me forget those socks. They took photos of me dancing to ‘The Twist’ at his reception. Grandma has the family portrait from the wedding displayed as you walk in the door and when you look at it your eyes can’t help but gravitate to my blinding green feet.
My idea is to get some crazy green socks to wear at my reception when I dance with my Uncle. AND, lol, I’ve got another “twist” planned. I will have the DJ announce that I am requesting a dance with my Uncle that reminded me of dancing with him at his reception. Instead of playing the traditional Chubby Checker version of The Twist, I want to use the 80s version by the Fat Boys. It starts off with Chubby Checker than cuts to a rap part, then back to the original version, and so on. Hilarious! I’m sure my Uncle will love it.
Now I’ve got to find the perfect neon green socks or knee high Tights. I originally wanted to get exact replicas, but since I’ve been doing some searching I really like the neon green knee highs with black stripes. Another little twist, if you will.
Yes, I’m a little odd. But I sure have fun.

It’s been 2 months since my last hair appointment. Yeah, I make the mistake of waiting slightly too long between appointments until my roots are ridiculous, which I hate. Nearly every time I notice that it’s time to schedule an appointment ASAP I consider if I’ll go with the usual blondish highlights and mid-brown low lights.
Occasionally, like today, I think to myself, “Hmm, I wonder if I should cut my hair.” I’ve been growing it out now for about eh, 16 months I’d say. My hair grows at a tortoise rate. With the wedding coming up I figure I should grow it out, right? Because that’s what you do when you get engaged, don’t you?
My fabulously stylish friend TG always has great hair (and short, mind you) so I asked her opinion on what I ought to do. I told her I was thinking maybe adding some bangs and Mr. W. even encouraged extensions (!) but I didn’t want to cut much off b/c of the wedding. Her reply was, “I hate when people think they have to grow out their hair so they can pull it up for one day.” True. But, this is a very important day. So I won’t go crazy and cut it *too* short, but I am considering more than just a trim.
I’ve got until noon Thursday to decide. Eeek!

Not long ago I posted about how Mr. Wonderful & I were looking into Mortgage Refinancing since rates dropped again. Just a few phone calls and e-mails later I got everything setup and ready to go. We did a few things in hopes of squeezing every last dime out of the new appraisal so we could avoid PMI by having 80% or better loan to value.
I’m happy to report the appraisal was a success! We got what we were hoping for and learned that our kitchen remodel project had about a 166% return on our investment (even better!) The most difficult thing about the whole process was signing the stack of loan closing documents. Not a bad deal considering we reduced our monthly mortgage payment nearly 25%! We now pay more for Mr. W’s monster truck than we do for our house. (Crazy!)
If you’re paying more than 6% on your mortgage you should really look into refinancing.

My friend celebrated her 29th birthday the other night so for her gift I made her a dirt cake, complete with black and gray roses in a plastic pail and shovel with a sign that said “Happy 29th Birthday Wendy…only one more year before you’re older than dirt.” Haha! (Sooooo not true of course!)

Dirt Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
1 Box Chocolate Cake (and all the ingredients for that)
1/2 cup soft butter
8oz cream cheese
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 3.5 oz boxes of chocolate pudding
3 1/2 cups milk
12 oz whip cream
1 bag Oreos
Gummy Worms
1 Large, Clean Plastic Pail & Shovel
Make chocolate cake according to directions. Set aside to cool. Crush Oreos. Set aside.
Mix butter, cream cheese & powdered sugar. Set aside.
Mix pudding with milk and whip cream. Add sugar/butter mixture and mix well.
Cut cake into several squares. Alternate layers of cake squares, pudding mixture, and Oreo crumbs in pail until full.
Place gummy worms in top layer. Chill for a few hours before serving.

So I met with my Make Up lady this past Saturday. We went over some skin care and makeup tips for now, and we’ll meet again to talk about wedding day make up. I’ve been using my new products for the past couple days and I must say that I have already noticed an improvement in the hydration of my skin. This crazy winter is pretty harsh so I usually have issues with dryness during this time of year. And I’ve been doing the nightly routine thing too, removing my makeup, moisturizing, etc., which is something I’m not always so good at. So far so good anyway.
And…I’m so excited that she has agreed to help behind the scenes before the wedding and reception so we look our best, especially for photos and video!!! Can I just say I feel like a total rock star with my wedding day entourage?! Two wedding planners, a personal attendant, a makeup extraordinaire, and a partridge in a pear tree. (What’s next, wardrobe people so I can swap out dresses between events like the celebs do? Only kidding…I promise I won’t go THAT far!)
